An independent guide to Val Thorens
Le Bowling in Val Thorens is a venue which offers lots of activities. They have ten pin bowling, arcade games, snooker and pool, an internet cafe, and big screens showing sporting events. Le Bowling, at place de l'Arche, is open every day from 12 noon to 2am.
There are eight ten pin bowling lanes. It costs €12 per person per game, or €20 per person for two games. (Those are the prices in 2016-17). You can book by phone (00 33 479 22 25 57).
Amongst the arcade games, there's table football and air hockey. There's also pool, which costs €15 per hour (and €20 deposit).
There's a lively bar known as la Bicicleta, with 'rustic' wooden tables and chairs. You can have a drink whether you're bowling, watching a football match on the big screens, or using the wifi to read your emails. Service is at the bar, or at your table.

The ski doos in Val Thorens (snowmobiles) are run by Val Tho Motoneige, based at a hut in the place de Caron. They offer one hour guided ski doo rides, with a guide on the lead ski doo, then five or six ski doos following. You can drive for the full hour, or share with a friend, and swap drivers half-way.

Val Thorens has the longest toboggan run in France, with 6km (3.7 miles) of exhilarating tobogganing, from an altitude of 3000m, down to 2300m. You use the Funitel Péclet to get to the top, then you toboggan on the piste for a short stretch, before joining the dedicated toboggan run, for a total of about 45 minutes of helter-skelter descent.
